What’s the rush?
Often people will know that there is a two-year limitation on bringing a claim for personal injury damages. However, most people do not know that there are other much shorter limitation dates in certain circumstances.
If you are injured in a motor vehicle accident where the other driver/owner is unknown (e.g. hit and run accident), did you know that there is a 90-day limitation period for contacting the Administrator under the Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Fund? If you fail to notify them in those 90 days you may lose the right to bring a claim.
If you have been in a ‘slip and fall’ accident on City of Calgary property, did you know that there is a very short 21-day limitation period to notify the City of Calgary or you may lose the right to bring a claim. The moral of the story is that you should not delay in getting legal advice if you have been in any sort of slip and fall or motor vehicle accident where you have been injured.
